MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING DEFEATED BY MANKATO

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving teams lost 85 to 141 to MSU-Mankato this evening in the McPhee Pool.

On the boards, Donnie Vollmer (Fr.-Superior) defeated his opponent with finals of 209.60 and 193.70, those scores being on one meter and three meter, respectively.

The swimmers captured a top spot in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Bill Peterson (Fr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul), Nick Peterson (Jr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul), Patrick Finley (Fr.-Waunakee), and Brian Schwartz (Jr.-Bemidji, MN) swam a 1:33.40 race. Cale Schmidt-Jackson (Jr.-Duluth, MN/East) took second in the 200 yard IM with 2:09.23, as well in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:07.48. Bill Peterson also swam well in the 100 yard freestyle, finishing second at 51.91. Finley was runner-up in the 500 yard freestyle as he swam it in 5:25.69.

Next Friday at 5:00 p.m. the Blugolds travel to UW-Stevens Point to take on their next opponent.
