MEN’S GOLF JUMPS TO 14TH

CARMEL AND FISHERS, IN – The UW-Eau Claire men’s golf team moved from 21st to 14th in day two of the NCAA Division III National Championships.

So far, Eau Claire has a +54 630 tally. St. John’s (MN) leads with 600 while Ohio Wesleyan University (OH) is second on a 611 score. Rhodes College (TN) is third at 615. McMurry University (TX) is in front of Eau Claire with a 627 score while two schools are tied at 633 behind the Blugolds. The field is now cut to 23 teams after today.

The 14th-ranked Blugolds played at Hawthorns Golf and Country Club today, where they totaled 311 strokes. The par-72 course is 7,069 yards. Other teams played at Prairie View Golf Club, also a par-72 course.

Clinton Dammann from St. John’s is the overall leader with a -1 score of 143. There are 180 participants.

Rob Norris (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall), Ryan Brockhaus (Sr.-Mayville), and Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) follow each other on the leaderboard. Norris is tied for 31st with a +11 155. Brockhaus is one shot behind Norris and is tied for 39th. Greer has shot a 157 so far and is tied for 49th. Norris’ 76 was best for today. He also collected four birdies.

Tyler Leis (Sr.-Reedsburg) is tied for 113th on a 164 tally while Mason Milner (Jr.-Onalaska) is in a tie for 130th with a 167.

The championships continue tomorrow with day three.
