MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TAKES 14th AT BLUGOLD OPEN

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – With 410 points, the UW-Eau Claire men’s cross country team took 14th out of 20 schools at the Blugold open today at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wis.

The University of Minnesota Duluth took first with 65 points and one top five runner. Duluth runner Eric Atkinson took first place with a time of 25:55. The runner-up Wartburg College (IA) collected 76 points, and Macalester College ran for 134. While St. Thomas (135) and St. Olaf (142) round out the top five.

The top Blugold finish belonged to Adam Burandt (Sr. - New Germany, MN/Central), who was 76th with a time of 28:16. Mike Blank (Fr. - New Berlin, WI/West) finished 96th with a time of 28:33. Josh Wieland (Fr. - Menomonie, WI) ran a 29:03 and took 126th and following him was Luke Wieker (Fr. - Hudson, WI) and Max Renner (So.- Green Bay, WI/East) who both ran 29:05.

Coming in at 133rd, Charlie Daehler (Fr. - Milwaukee, WI/Whitefish Bay) clocked a 29:07. The last point-gainer for the group was Nate Flesch (So. - Platteville, WI) with a 29:27 time putting him in 156th.

Next up for the Blugold men’s cross country team is the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invite in St. Paul, Minn. The event will take place on Saturday, September 29 at 10:30 a.m.
