MEN'S BASKETBALL ROUTS NORTHLAND COLLEGE
ASHLAND - The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team won heavily today over Northland College in a 75-47 game. The Blugolds climb above .500 to 4-3 now. The Lumberjacks are 2-5 on the year after winning their first two games. Eau Claire pulled out to a 39-21 lead at halftime as they shot 42.9% from the floor. They also went 5-of-7 on threes for 71.4% and 7-of-12 at the free throw line for 58.3%. Northland shot 28.6% and took only one three, which was missed. The Lumberjacks went 10-of-14 from the line in the first half. In the second half Eau Claire outscored Northland 36-to-26 en route to the final score. For the game the Blugolds shot 43.1% and went 66.7% for threes and free throws. The Lumberjacks went 39.5% from the field while making 1-of-2 threes and 70.8% of free throws. Jared Bardon (Jr.-DeForest) led Eau Claire with 17 points. Geoff Probst (Fr.-Moose Lake, MN/U. of North Dakota) had five boards to lead in rebounds. Mitch Oetken’s 11 points was most for the Lumberjacks. The Blugolds are 22-2 all-time versus Northland with the last loss coming in 1963-1964.
