MEN'S BASKETBALL TIPS OFF WITH BLUE AND GOLD SCRIMMAGE

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team started off its season tonight competing in its annual Blue and Gold intra-squad scrimmage, with the Blue coming out on top 61-54 at Zorn Arena.

The Blue squad had a 35-19 lead at the half, but the Gold team cut into that lead in the second half out-scoring the Blue team in the second half 35-26. Both teams ended up shooting 37% in very well defensively played game.

Wesley Ehlers (Fr.-De Pere, WI) led the blue team to victory, scoring 14 points and was perfect from the free throw line going 8-8. Luke Meier (So.-Cross Plains, WI/Middleton) added 13 points for the Blue team. Jared Supalla (Jr.-Eden Prairie, MN/Riverland CC, MN) had eight rebounds to go along with seven points for the Blue squad. All eight members of the Blue team scored.

Jared Bardon (So.-DeForest, WI) of the Gold team led all scorers with 16 points. Matt Riley (Jr.-Cadott, WI) added 13 points for the Gold squad going 50% from three-point land. Dan Beyer (So.-Waukesha, WI/Catholic Memorial) had seven rebounds to along with 10 points for the Gold team.

The Blugolds will start their regular season at home Friday, November 18, against Coe College. The Tip-off is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Zorn Arena.
