GYMNASTICS TAKES THIRD AT TRIANGULAR
ST. PETER, Minn. – The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team took third out of three teams at the Gustavus Triangular Meet today, but missed first by less than two points. The home team took the event on a 176.700 score while Winona State (MN) finished in second on 176.450 points. Eau Claire’s total was 174.925. Kristi Olson (Sr.-Minnetonka, MN) had the best day for the Blugolds, as she won the all-around competition. She took fourth on the uneven bars, tied for sixth on balance beam, grabbed eighth in the floor exercise and tied for ninth on the vault. Her final score was a season-high 35.500, with the next closest being 35.225 from a Gustavus opponent. Lauren Strecker (Fr.-Little Canada, MN/Roseville) had a fine performance on the floor, notching an 8.975 score that placed her second. Gustavus’ Christine Askham won with 9.000. The team is now 1-10 and will next compete on Thursday at Winona State. Results -PH-
