GYMNASTICS TAKES SECOND AT HAMLINE TRIANGULAR

ST. PAUL, MN – The UW-Eau Claire gymnasts finished second at the Hamline Triangular here tonight at Walker Fieldhouse.

Hamline won the event with a score of 179.650, while the Blugolds scored a season high 177.175 points. UW-Stout finished third with 175.100 points.

Three Blugolds finished in the top eight in the all-around. The team was led by Theresa Lynch (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear) who took second with a score of 36.400. Kristi Olson (Jr.-Minnetonka, MN) finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 35.400 and Anna Sutherland (So.-Arden Hills, MN/Roseville) tied for eighth with a score of 34.300.

Lynch, competing for the first time since January 12 due to an injury, took first on the balance beam with a career high 9.350. She also finished third in the floor exercise with a score of 9.450, which is a season high as well.

The Blugolds best event of the night was the floor exercise, with three of the top five scores. Ashley Brett (Sr.-Forest Lake, MN) finished fourth in the event and scored a career high 9.400, followed by Sutherland with a score of 9.375.

The Blugolds are now 2-14 overall and will complete the regular season next Thursday when they take on UW-Oshkosh. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. at Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh.
