GYMNASTICS PLACES SEVENTH AT NATIONALS

BROCKPORT, NY - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team placed seventh tonight with a score of 179.425 at the 2006 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Nationals held at Tuttle North Gymnasium.

UW-La Crosse won the team championship for the sixth consecutive year with a score of 186.250. Ithaca College took second with a score of 183.800. UW-Oshkosh finished a close third with a score of 183.750. Rounding out the field was the host school SUNY-Brockport in fourth, M.I.T in fifth, Ursinus College (PA) in sixth, and the Blugolds in seventh.

Lynn Morris (Sr.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 37.325. Morris had the team-best score in both the uneven bars with a score of 9.250 and the balance beam with a score of 9.500. Morris advances to the individual competitions in both of those events tomorrow.

The Blugolds had a season-best team score in the floor exercise with a score of 47.700 which was good for second.

Theresa Lynch (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear) placed first in the floor exercise with a season-best score of 9.800. Anna Sutherland (Fr.-Roseville, MN) was tied for ninth in the event with a score of 9.625. Both Lynch and Sutherland advance to tomorrow's individual competition.

Kristi Olson (So.-Minnetonka, MN) led the team in the vault with a season-best score of 9.275.

SUNY-Brockport's Sarah Bulka won the all-around championship for the second straight year with a score of 38.475.

Competition for individual championships begins tomorrow at 3 p.m.
