GYMNASTICS TAKES FIRST PLACE AT HAMLINE TRIANGULAR

ST. PAUL, MN - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team finished in first place tonight at the Hamline Triangular with a score of 177.250, narrowly defeating Hamline who had a score of 177.150 and Gustavus Adolphus who had a score of 174.100.

The victory improves the Blugolds to 7-6 overall. Earlier this season, Hamline finished first in the Blugold Triangular held in Eau Claire and this time it was the Blugolds returning the favor.

Lynn Morris (Sr.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) for the fifth time this season finished first in the all-around with a score of 36.450. Morris took home first in the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.100.

She was the top Blugold finisher in the vault finishing second with a score of 9.250. She also finished second in the floor exercise with a season-best score of 9.350.

Theresa Lynch (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear) finished second for the Blugolds in the all-around with a season-best score of 35.900. Lynch took first place in the floor exercise with a season-best score of 9.475.

Melanie Nichols (Sr.-Galesville, WI/G-E-T) was the top Blugold finisher in the balance beam with a score of 9.050.

Next, the Blugolds will travel to face Gustavus Adolphus next Friday night in the team's final regular season meet. The action gets underway at 7 p.m.
