November 5, 2007 - November 11, 2007


Offense: Tony Hull, Wide Receiver, 6-4, 205, Senior, Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park

In this weekend’s game against UW-Stout, the Blugolds came from behind in the final minutes to defeat the Blue Devils 17-14. To open the day’s scoring, Hull caught a 40-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. He had 11 more receptions in the game for a total of 213 yards. Hull played an instrumental role on a number of drives during the game. In the Blugolds second drive of the third quarter, Hull caught five passes to set up a field goal. Hull’s 213 yards ranks as second most for a game in program history, with the record being 217 yards.


Defense: Sam Cummings, Inside Linebacker, 6-0, 245, Senior, Rochester, Minn.

In the Blugolds’ 17-14 win over conference rival UW-Stout on Saturday, Cummings led the team in tackles. Cummings totaled 14 tackles, seven solos and seven assists, including a half sack. The 14 tackles gives Cummings 95 tackles this season, the most on the team.


October 29, 2007 - November 4, 2007


Offense: Tony Hull, Wide Receiver, 6-4, 205, Senior, Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park

In this weekend’s 28-7 victory over Stevens Point, Tony Hull led the Blugolds in receiving. Hull caught three passes for 59 yards and scored the game’s opening touchdown. He also caught a pass late in the second quarter that went for 32 yards.


Defense: Tom Dohr, Outside Linebacker, 6-3, 225, Junior, Neenah, Wis.

This weekend in the Blugolds’ 28-7 victory over Stevens Point, Dohr led the Blugolds in tackles. Dohr had two solo tackles and 12 assists, including a sack to end a Stevens Point drive early in the second quarter. Dohr also forced a fumble in the third quarter and returned a block punt to put the Blugolds up 21-7.


Special Teams: Nate Jahn, Outside Linebacker, 6-1, 260, Senior, Alma Center, Wis./Lincoln

Nate Jahn played an important role in sealing the Blugolds’ victory over the Stevens Point Pointers. In the 28-7 win, Jahn blocked a punt in the third quarter, which led to a touchdown and put the Blugolds up 21-7.


October 15, 2007 - October 21, 2007


Defense: Craig Polifka, Cornerback, 5-10, 185, Junior, Kewaunee, Wis.

In this weekend’s 40-33 victory over UW-Platteville, Polifka had two interceptions, a touchdown, and tied for fourth on the team in total number of tackles. Polifka’s first interception came early in the second quarter, and he ran it back 43 yards for a touchdown to put the Blugolds back up 20-13. His final interception came in the fourth quarter, following a Platteville drive that lasted seven plays for 42 yards, and returned it to the Platteville 42. Polifka also accumulated a total of three tackles, including three solos and one assist.


Special Teams: Craig Polifka, Returner, 5-10, 185, Junior, Kewaunee, Wis.

Polifka played an important role in the field position battle in this weekend’s 40-33 win over the UW-Platteville Pioneers. On six kickoff returns, Polifka had 181 return yards, an average of 30.2 yards per return. In the second and third quarters, Polifka had two returns that were 40 or more yards. With just over 5 minutes remaining in the second quarter, Polifka ran one back 49 yards to the Platteville 46, and the Blugolds would score 12 plays later to push the score to 27-13. He would also return another kickoff 43 yards to the Platteville 47 late in the third quarter


October 1, 2007 - October 7, 2007


Offense: Spencer Kehoe, Tailback, 5-10, 185, Sophomore, Clear Lake, Wis.

In the 31-29 victory over the sixth-ranked UW-La Crosse Eagles this weekend, Kehoe was the second leading rusher and receiver for the Blugolds. Carrying the ball only three times during the game, Kehoe averaged 14.3 yards per carry, for a total of 43 yards. The sophomore had the first rush of his career with the Blugolds go for 28 yards, which help set up a Blugold touchdown three plays later. Kehoe also had 38 yards receiving on the day, catching his first pass on the first play of the fourth quarter. He took the ball 33 yards on that pass, and six plays later the Blugolds would again score a touchdown. Kehoe’s final reception of the game got the Blugolds to the UWL 29, which would then set up kicker Craig Kolb’s game-winning 46-yard field goal.


Defense: Dave Wicklund, Safety, 5-11, 200, Junior, Kewaskum, Wis.

Wicklund played an important role in this weekend’s 31-29 homecoming victory over sixth-ranked UW-La Crosse. Wicklund led the Blugolds in solo tackles with 11 and tallied four assists on the day for a total of 15 tackles. On the Eagles’ second drive of the game, Wicklund had a tackle-for-loss, and following an incompletion, the Eagles were forced to punt. Not only did his tackle effort make a difference in the victory, but he was also able to break up one pass in the first quarter.


Special Teams: Craig Kolb, Kicker, 6-1, 210, Sophomore, Marshfield, Wis

In this weekend’s homecoming game against sixth-ranked UW-La Crosse, Kolb nailed a game-winning field goal to give the Blugolds a 31-29 victory over the Eagles. After the Blugolds led the entire game, they found themselves down by one point after an Eagle touchdown with 1:17 remaining in the contest. The Blugolds would drive the ball 36 yards on the ensuing drive, setting up a 46-yard field goal attempt for the sophomore kicker. With 24 seconds remaining in the game, Kolb sent the kick right down the center of the uprights to give the Blugolds the edge they needed to pull off the victory. The field goal is tied for fifth longest in school history and is the longest of his career, with his previous long of 41 yards coming in last year’s homecoming victory over UW-River Falls.


Offense: Amy Smith, 5-4, Junior, Bloomington, Minn../Thomas Jefferson

Amy Smith increased her goal total to eight on the season and assists total to seven in the Blugolds three victories in this week’s games. In the Blugolds’ 3-0 win over the UW-Stout Blue Devils, Smith assisted on the game’s second and third goals. She also led the Blugolds with six shots in the Stout game, with three being on goal. In Saturday’s 4-3 overtime victory over UW-Stevens Point, Smith assisted on the game-winning goal with just under three minutes remaining in the first overtime. She again led the Blugolds in shots with four. In Sunday’s 3-0 win over Loras College, Smith had a hand in each of the Blugolds’ goals. On the first goal of the game, Amy Smith scored at the midway point in the first period, with Liz Kooistra assisting. On the game’s second goal, Kooistra would score and Amy Smith had the assist. The final goal of the game was also scored by Amy Smith, her eighth on the season, with another assist going to Kooistra. Amy Smith ended the game tied with her sister, Allison, leading the team in shots.


September 24, 2007 - September 30, 2007


Offense: Mitch Schaeuble, Quarterback/Punter, 6-0, 190, Senior, Wrightstown, Wis

This weekend, Schaeuble handled both quarterback and punting duties in the 21-20 victory at UW-Oshkosh. As quarterback, Schaeuble threw for 348 yards and completed 17 of 27 passes. There have only been six other players in Blugold Football history that have thrown for 335 or more yards in a game, with the last time being in 2004. Schaeuble threw two touchdown passes, one of which came on a 74-yard strike and the other on a 55-yard strike. Schaeuble also had almost half of the Blugolds’ rushing yards, with 18 on six carries. He also punted five times, totaling 179 yards, a 35.8-yard per punt average, had one inside the 20 and a long of 42.


Defense: Andy Smisek, Nose Guard, 6-2, 250, Junior, Northfield, Minn.

Smisek helped anchor the Blugold defense this weekend, defeating UW-Oshkosh 21-20. Smisek had five solo tackles, including one sack for a loss of 10 yards. Smisek’s sack came on Oshkosh’s first drive of the second quarter and pushed them back from the UWEC 13 to the UWEC 23, making for a 40-yard field goal. Oshkosh’s Lucas Raschke would then miss the field goal, which allowed the Blugolds to stay within three points of Oshkosh.


September 10, 2007 - September 16, 2007


Offense: Cory Sartorelli, Tailback, 5-11, 195, Sophomore, Appleton, WI/North

Sartorelli led the Blugolds in rushing this weekend as they defeated Alma College (MI) 30-14 in the Blugolds’ home opener. Sartorelli rushed for a total of 209 yards on 40 carries, a 5.2 yard per carry average. Early in the third quarter, Sartorelli broke one for 41 yards and also had three touchdowns in the game. Only 11 other times in Blugold football history has there been another 209+ yard performance in a game.


Defense: Zach Paul, Safety, 6-1, 200, Senior, Edgar, WI

Paul played an important roll on defense for the Blugolds this weekend in the 30-14 victory over Alma College (MI). Paul was second on the team in total number of tackles with three solos and six assists. Paul also had three of the Blugolds’ six takeaways, recovering two fumbles and intercepting one pass. Six minutes into the fourth quarter, Paul forced a fumble and recovered it, taking it back to Alma’s two yard line. One play later, the Blugolds would score their final touchdown of the game. On the next Alma drive, Paul intercepted a pass on the Blugolds’ six yard line, ending a 63 yard drive by the Scots.


Special Teams: Craig Polifka, Cornerback, 5-10, 185, Junior, Kewaunee, WI

Polifka helped the Blugolds in the field position battle this weekend in the 30-14 victory over Alma College (MI). Polifka had 148 return yards in the game, with 83 yards in punt returns and 65 yards in kickoff returns. He returned a total of five punts and two kickoffs. Polifka returned one punt 46 yards in the first quarter and took the opening kickoff of the second half 45 yards to the Alma 35. The Blugolds would score a touchdown five plays later.


September 3, 2007 - September 9, 2007


Defense: Sam Cummings, Inside Linebacker,6-0, 245, Senior, Rochester, MN/John Marshall

Cummings led the Blguolds in tackling this weekend in the 14-3 victory over Black Hills State, SD. Cummings had a total of 14 tackles, including one for a loss of six yards. Cummings also recovered a BHSU fumble late in the first quarter to set up the second Blugold touchdown. Cummings also picked up a blocked punt on BHSU’s first drive and took it back nine yards to set up the Blugolds first touchdown.


Special Teams: Nils Dillon, Wide Receiver, 6-2, 205, Sophomore, Iola, WI/Iola-Scandinavia

Dillon had a big impact in the Blugolds 14-3 win at Black Hills State, SD this weekend. On the Yellow Jackets first drive of the game, Dillon blocked a punt and the Blugolds returned it to the BHSU 7 to start the Blugolds first drive. Three plays later, Dillon caught the touchdown pass to put the Blugolds on the board. Dillon had 26 receiving yards on three receptions, 14 punt return yards and one tackle for the game.


August 27, 2007 - September 2, 2007


Offense: Cory Sartorelli, Tailback, 5-11, 195, Sophomore, Appleton, WI/North

Sartorelli led the Blugolds in rushing last Thursday, with 141 net yards, helping the Blugolds in their 42-13 win against non-conference opponent Southwest Minnesota State. He scored a touchdown on a three-yard run in the third quarter. Sartorelli also caught a 14-yard pass during the game.


Defense: Zach Paul, Safety, 6-1, 200, Senior, Edgar, WI

Paul helped the Blugolds in a number of ways in Thursday’s victory over Southwest Minnesota State. Not only did he have seven tackles during the course of the game, but he also scored the Blugolds first touchdown of the season off an interception and a 20-yard return two-and-a-half minutes into the game. Paul also broke up a pass and recovered a fumble early in the 4th quarter.


Special Teams: Craig Polifka, Cornerback, 5-11, 195, Junior, Kewaunee, WI

Polifka started the Blugolds off quickly in Thursday’s 42-13 victory over Southwest Minnesota State, running the opening kickoff back 55 yards to the SMSU 33 yard line. He also ran back one other kickoff for 26 yards for a total of 81 yards. Polifka ran back two punts for a total of 25 yards. He also helped out on the defense, having two solo tackles.
