Kent State memorial rededication
At left, Arthur Gulig, technical director of University Theatre, helped plant a new tree during the May 5 rededication of UW-Eau Claire's Kent State Memorial. The memorial next to Davies Center, which includes a plaque and four crabapple trees, was first dedicated on May 8, 1970, in honor of the four Kent State University students killed during anti-Vietnam war protests 33 years ago. Gulig was a UW-Eau Claire student at the time. The new tree Gulig helped plant replaced one of the four original trees, which died and had been removed.
