Amy Oldakowski '07 and Dan McNeely '05

Where and how did you meet at UW-Eau Claire? Before classes began, freshmen had to attend an orientation for which ever major they thought they would choose. I decided to attend the meeting for the department of communication and journalism. It just so happened that Dan was at the meeting as well to talk about forensics and why and how people could join. After the meeting any interested freshmen were shown the forensics squad room on the seventh floor of Hibbard Hall. This is where Dan and I officially met.

Was it a “love connection” from the start? I was a little wary of Dan at first. Being a new freshman at college, I wasn’t sure about dating an older guy.  But after our first date when he graciously lost at bowling at the Hilltop Bowling and Billiard Center, things seemed to be looking favorable.

Who made the first move? Dan made the first move walking me back to the dorms after my first late night in Eau Claire.

Is there a place on campus that is special for the two of you? Our first date was at the Hilltop Bowling and Billiard Center, the first kiss was in my Bridgman dorm room.

What is your fondest memory as a couple that connects you to UW-Eau Claire? We were both highly involved in forensics while we were here.  We spent more of our time in Hibbard Hall practicing speeches than on romantic dates.

How long have you been married and/or together, or when will you get married? We will be getting married on July 12, 2008.
