Thomas W. King '72 and Debra R. (Torgerson) King '92 (MEPD) (also attended UW-Eau Claire 1971-73)
Where and how did you meet at UW-Eau Claire? We met first in Davies Center, west end of the lower-level cafe, in August 1972, introduced by a mutual friend. We then remet, talked, and connected at the top of the 93 steps near Horan Hall on a sunny, bright, clear weekday in September 1972.
Was it a “love connection” from the start? We were good friends first for several years, then grew to love each other, becoming engaged in fall 1974 (see photo), enduring each of our many moves with jobs and much geographic distance over the intervening years.
Is there a place on campus that's special for the two of you? Our special place is The Cabin in Davies Center, where we talked much and got acquainted, and the top of the 93 stairs looking out over the river and campus.
What is your fondest memory as a couple that connects you to UW-Eau Claire? Talking in The Cabin, and later our shared careers for many years at UW-Eau Claire, and our younger son, Seth's, graduation from UW-Eau Claire in May 2003.
If you are married, when did you tie the knot? We married on May 24, 1975, in Little Elk Creek, Wis. |
