Mario Fantauzzi '04 and
Stacy (Voight) Fantauzzi '05

Where and how did you meet while students at UW-Eau Claire? We met in the Beta Upsilon Sigma co-ed business fraternity. Mario was already an established leader within the organization when I joined B.U.S. during the spring semester of my sophomore year. I took notice of him right away. He was always front and center during our weekly meetings, presenting updates for his committee (not to mention he looked really nice in a suit. :)  Turned out that his good friend was assigned as my "big buddy" to introduce me to all the opportunities B.U.S. had to offer. Meanwhile, Mario was asking his friend for an introduction to me. Shortly thereafter, we started showing up at many of the same professional and social events. We quickly realized that there was a connection and we have been together ever since!

Was it a “love connection” from the start? Yes — a strong one that proved to us that it could last through anything. Six months after we met, Mario left for Australia for four months and then graduated from UW-Eau Claire when he returned. Upon graduation, he moved to the Twin Cities for work while I finished out my senior year, frequently making the "short" drive to the cities on the weekend. After I graduated, I took my own trip and worked in Glacier National Park for four months. Through it all, our love for each other continued to grow stronger, and four years later we were married.

Special place on campus: Though campus and Eau Claire in general hold a very special place in our hearts since that is where we met, Schneider Hall brings back many fond memories. We had a lot of the same professors, were both very involved, and frequently bumped into each other. In fact, we were both chosen as College of Business representatives:

What is your fondest memory as a couple that connects you to UW-Eau Claire?  Again, it's hard to choose a favorite, but spending Homecoming together each year with friends both new and old was always a lot of fun and made for many great memories!

If you are married, when did you tie the knot? We got married on Oct., 27, 2007, and are approaching our one-year anniversary! With most of Mario's family and friends located in Minnesota and mine in southeastern Wisconsin, we decided to meet in the middle and get married in Eau Claire, where we first met!  We held the ceremony and reception at Wild Ridge Golf Club. We made a special stop on campus with the wedding party to pose for photos by the footbridge and campus clock. Since 15 of the 20 people in our wedding party are UW-Eau Claire alumni, it goes to show how close the university brought us.
