Tim Koenigs '77 and Kathy (Wierdsma) Koenigs '77

I met the former Kathy Wierdsma in early February 1977, which was during the last semester of my senior year. We met at an off-campus house party. I remember being very impressed with how this cute girl offered to get me a beer in a very crowded room. She knew the host and was able to negotiate her way to the bar and then back without spilling a drop.
While this may not qualify as love at first sight, I knew then that this girl held tremendous potential. Our first date was on Valentine's Day a week later. We went out to eat at Houligan's in downtown Eau Claire and then to a movie that in retrospect served as an omen of our future life together: "Rocky." No, not because of the fighting, but for the love that Rocky and his wife, Adrian, shared!
I asked her to marry me on Valentine's Day three years later. We were married in August 1980 and have been married 27 years. At first we thought we'd have a child every time a Rocky sequel was made, but after four children we realized we could never keep up with Sylvester Stallone!
Besides raising four children together we also are business partners, and Koenigs ProSource Inc. recently celebrated its 21st year in business. We have been blessed, but I've noticed now I have to get my own beer!
My time I spent receiving a college education at UW-Eau Claire was a life-altering experience and has made me the man, father and husband that I am today.
