Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma are two organizations here on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus that share a similar objective: To provide scholarly and deserving first year students with an organization that recognizes their academic achievement.

History

About Alpha Lambda Delta

Alpha Lambda Delta is a national society that honors academic excellence during a student's first year in college. Founded as an honor society for freshman women at the University of Illinois in 1924, Alpha Lambda Delta became a national organization as chapters were established at Purdue in 1926 and at DePauw in 1927. Its purpose is to encourage superior academic achievement among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standards of learning, and to assist women and men in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society.

About Phi Eta Sigma

Phi Eta Sigma National Freshman Honor Fraternity was founded in 1923. The UWEC Chapter was chartered on October 6, 1966.

The objectives of Phi Eta Sigma are to encourage and reward high scholastic attainment among freshman at UWEC and to thus indirectly promote a higher standard of learning at institutions of higher education throughout the nation.
