Dr. O'Day is an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Art and Design at the University of Wisconsin-Eau
Claire where she teaches Art History. Her courses about the art of
the Americas include Native Art of the Americas (ARTH324, AIS 324),
Precolumbian Art of Mexico and Central America (ARTH335 and AIS 335)
and Ancient Andean Arts (ARTH291). |
She also has taught courses about Mexica Aztec art, early colonial
art of Central Mexico, and Inka art, as well as aspects of the art
of the Southwest and Eastern Woodlands. Professor O'Day has conducted
research on the ancient art of Peru, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica,
and Mexico. Her primary focus is the materials, techniques, iconography,
and functions of ceramics. |
Dr. O'Day's dissertation, which she completed in 2003 at Emory University,
studied the iconography and ritual functions of polychrome ceramic
vessels made in Panama between 750 and 950 CE. Other media, such as
Andean textiles and metalwork, have been Professor O'Day's research
focus; her article, "The Goldwork of Chimor: The Technology and
Iconography of Accumulation," was published in 2000. |
|
Prior to joining the faculty at UW-Eau Claire, Dr. O'Day taught
ancient, colonial, and 20th-century Latin American art at the University
