Tests offered:

UW- System Placement tests are offered in English, Math, French, German and Spanish

Tests required:

All students - freshmen and transfer students-- who do not have college level credit must take the Math and English Placement tests. All students who have had two or more years of French, German or Spanish must take the Foreign Language placement test unless they have been out of high school for three or more years.

When given:

  • Freshmen: Most freshmen take these tests during Regional Placement Testing in the spring prior to enrollment. The UW Center for Placement Testing administers the tests at sites throughout Wisconsin on certain Saturdays in March and April. (Schedule) Placement tests are also given the day before selected Summer Orientation programs.

  • Transfer students: Placement tests are given during transfer orientation.

  • Residual testing: For information about other testing dates, contact Academic Testing, Schofield 226, 836-5522.

  • Transferring scores from other UW System Schools: If you took Placement tests for another UW-System school, contact UW-Eau Claire's Academic Testing Office (836-5522) to have the scores transferred here.
