Orientation Guide

The purpose of the Orientation Guide is:

  • To introduce you to UW-Eau Claire and to campus services available to nontraditional students and their families.
  • To provide information on applying financial aid, registering for classes, and generally adjusting to campus life.
  • To provide you with other helpful tips to minimize the obstacles and maximize the enjoyment of your higher education experience at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Some of the information mirrors portions of the UW-Eau Claire Catalogue, while other information is unique to this orientation manual and is based on the insights and experiences of nontraditional students currently attending the university.

This Orientation Guide does not take place of the Class Schedule Bulletin online or the Catalogue. You should become familiar with both of them as they both contain important and useful information.

NOTE: The Catalogue in effect at the time of your acceptance into the University contains the requirements you will need to fulfill in order to graduate. You do not need to obtain a new Catalogue each year. Although your academic adviser can help you choose courses, you are ultimately responsible for meeting the requirements of your specific degree program under your catalogue. Please address any questions or concerns early in your academic career.

Nontraditional students are a significant proportion of the UW-Eau Claire student body - approximately 12%. You bring the university numerous benefits, including the richness of your varied life experiences, the inspiration of your devotion to academic goals, and the strength of your scholastic performance. Professors love having you in their classrooms!

I welcome you to our learning community and wish you success !
