Orientation Guide

Welcome and Introduction to Nontraditional Student Services

Welcome to the University of Wisconsin‑Eau Claire.  We’re glad you’re here!! Nontraditional students (defined as those who are age 25 or older, or under age 25 but are married and/or are a parent or a veteran) are a significant proportion of the UWEC student body--approximately 12%.  You bring to the university numerous benefits, including the richness of your life experiences, the inspiration of your devotion to academic goals, and the strength of your scholastic performance.  Professors love having you in their classrooms!

The purpose of this orientation guide is: to introduce you to UW-Eau Claire and to campus services available to nontraditional students and their families; to provide information that will be important to you as you adjust to campus life; and to provide you with other helpful tips to enhance the enjoyment of your experience at the University of Wisconsin‑Eau Claire. We have included office building numbers, room numbers and telephone numbers in this guide.  However, these numbers and office locations sometimes change.  If you have trouble locating an office, call Campus Information at (715) 836‑2637 or contact me.

This guide is a supplement to the binder you received during orientation.  The Catalogue in effect at the time of your acceptance into the University contains the requirements you will need to fulfill in order to graduate.  KEEP YOUR BINDER AND YOUR ORIGINAL CATALOG AS A REFERENCE ALL THROUGHOUT YOUR COLLEGE CAREER.  Also keep in mind that all information can be found on the UWEC website, (www.uwec.edu).

I invite you to stop in and visit with me to learn all that is available to you.

I welcome you to our learning community and wish you success! You are on your way to fulfilling a dream!
