Nontraditional Student Services sponsors an Adult Student Peer Mentoring Program. Sometimes new students aren’t sure who to turn to with questions of all kinds, large and small. And sometimes getting the information quickly, when you have an immediate need for it, can make all the difference in your adjustment to the University. As you already know, returning to school brings many enrichment opportunities, as well as potential stressors, to adult students and their families. A Peer Mentor can help you take advantage of all the university has to offer, as well as help alleviate some of that start-up anxiety that can make a big difference to you. We invite you to consider being a part of this effort to help smooth your transition into the university community.
Adult Student Peer Mentors will provide information, assistance, referral and encouragement to you (the “Mentees”), as well as serve as an informal connection to the university learning community during your first semester (or longer if you wish).
If you think you would enjoy having a “buddy” to help you learn the “ropes” during your first semester at UW-Eau Claire, please complete an application form and return it to Nontraditional Student Services, Schofield 226. We will attempt to match you with a Mentor who shares similar educational and/or career goals, and will use any additional information provided to make the best match we can. Your Peer Mentor will contact you shortly, (either by email or telephone—your choice), to help answer any of your questions and to be a campus connection for you.
Please remember that I continue to be a resource for you as well.
