How did you pick a major? I started college as an Athletic Training major, then randomly switched to Nursing, and then Undecided. It was when I was Undecided that I talked to a career counselor in Career Services (an AWESOME resource at UWEC) and decided what past classes I really liked and what I wanted to do after college. I remembered taking PSYC 100 with Micky Crothers and absolutely loved her class and her as a professor. It was then that I declared Psychology as my major and was able to get Dr. Crothers as my advisor….and I couldn’t be happier!
Any unique experiences you've had as a psychology major at UWEC? I've had the opportunity to do faculty/student research and work closely with my professors on their own projects. This past spring my research partner and I went to the National Conference of Undergraduate Research in San Francisco, CA where we presented our research findings. I've also been a teaching assistant and will be a Student Mentor for a First Year Experience course in psychology this fall.
What are your 3 favorite things in the world: First, my family- they are amazing! My parents and my sister Ashley support everything I do and are the reason why I'm where I am today! They are inspirational. Second, my favorite place in the whole world is sitting on the dock at my grandparents’ cabin in Brainerd, MN. Third, my electronics- I know it sounds crazy, but I probably wouldn’t survive a whole week without my cellphone, digital camera, and computer!
Favorite musical groups: Snow Patrol and The Fray
Fears/phobias: I’m not a fan of glass elevators and I always worry I’ll sleep through a final so I set three different alarms!

Best place to eat on campus: Brunch at the caf on Sundays is the best … seriously! When I lived in the residence halls, we’d all sleep in and then plan to go to brunch together. The variety of breakfast food and lunch food is awesome! Definitely better than anything I can make on my own living off campus!
Your favorite campus event: CUBE Fest (Creating the Ultimate Blugold Experience) happens the first week of school, and it's a full week of activities designed to welcome everyone and help you meet new people. The most popular event is tie-dying; there is a whole field set up and students dye everything from t-shirts to futon covers! It’s great -but I suggest wearing something you don’t mind getting dirty…because you are guaranteed to get wet!
Your other favorite campus event: I love HOMECOMING! This week is definitely one of the best all year on campus! There are events held everyday and different student organizations really get into it! The school spirit is amazing and everyone always has a good time!
How did you choose UW-Eau Claire?
Unfortunately, I missed my scheduled campus tour because I made my mom drive out of the way to get coffee and then we got stuck in traffic…but I still applied and was able to visit later in the year. As soon as I was able to see first hand how classes were and how friendly the people were, I knew this was the place for me! I knew if I came here I would have an endless amount of opportunities and I also liked knowing it was a big but united campus. Favorite quote:
“Shoot for the moon….even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”
Why you should come on my tour: I know Alyssa probably said you should come on her tour - but I share lots of personal advice on what to expect, what to do (and what not to do)…but, in all honesty, you can't go wrong with any of us, we all love what we do!
