Nursing - Accelerated BSN

UW-Eau Claire educates nurses at the baccalaureate, master and doctoral levels. We offer various options, including an accelerated plan for second degree students wishing to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. This 12 month accelerated curriculum consists of 60 nursing credits that interweave the concepts of humanity, health, environment, and nursing into a curriculum that clinically addresses nursing across the life span of health care recipients.
Why UW-Eau Claire
Our nationally recognized nursing program graduates more than 140 BSN students each year. Nearly 100 percent of our graduates have jobs or are continuing their education within a year of graduation. The UW-Eau Claire nursing baccalaureate and masters programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing.
Accelerated BSN admissions requirements
Formal application to the accelerated BSN program must be made. The deadline for filing applications to the Accelerated BSN program at UW-Eau Claire site is January 15, for June entry. To be considered for admission to the accelerated nursing
program, students must have applied to UW-Eau Claire by December 1:
- Baccalaureate degree
- Chem 103 (General chemistry) or equivalent*
- Chem 150 (Biochemistry) or equivalent*
- Biol 214 (Human Anatomy & Physiology ) or equivalent*
- Biol 250 (Microbiology) or equivalent*
- Biol 314 (Human Anatomy & Physiology II) or equivalent*
- Psych 230 (Human development) or equivalent* (Psych 100 is a pre-requisite)
- Statistics*
- Cultural Diversity (3 credits)*
- CNA certification.
- All application materials (official transcripts, health requirements, CPR certification, background checks, essay, two references), and an application fee.
- An overall GPA of 3.00 in the most recent baccalaureate or higher academic degree and a science GPA of 2.5 are required.GPA will be one factor considered in admissions: highest GPA may not assure admission.
- An interview will be part of the selection process.
- Indicated courses must be completed prior to being admitted to the program, with grades of C or higher; courses must be taken within the last 10 years. Advising with review of academic transcripts is required prior to distribution of application materials, and must be completed by December 1.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences may find it necessary to deny admission to a qualified applicant because of enrollment limits in the professional program. Depending on the number of qualified applicants, meeting minimum criteria for admission may not be sufficient to be accepted into the nursing major.
Applicants who have completed all requirements will be given priority consideration. Program costs are significantly higher than typical UW-Eau Claire undergraduate programs. Additional academic fees as well as uniform, supplies, lab course, textbook, and travel expenses apply.
