UW-Eau Claire is part of the UW-System Women’s Studies Consortium, which received the 1998 American Council on Education/ National Network for Women Leaders in Higher Education Leadership Award.
Local, national and international outreach and action projects are integral parts of the curriculum through which students gain practical experience that promotes civic responsibility and increases career opportunities.
The women's studies program maintains a liaison with community, state and national groups concerned with women’s issues.
Students have access to the on-campus Women’s Resource Center.
Through financial support from the UW-Eau Claire Foundation and privately sponsored awards, the Women’s Studies Awards Celebration recognizes exemplary student projects and research nominated by faculty members. These projects emphasize the roles and contributions of women while demonstrating the importance of creative student- faculty collaboration.
In March students have the opportunity to participate in National Women’s Studies History Month events focusing on women’s contributions past and present.
Unlike many other public universities, classes are not taught by teaching assistants. Students work alongside interesting professors who inspire learning.
