We send a high percentage of our graduates to law schools and graduate programs. Many graduates earn law degrees at UW-Madison, the University of Minnesota and other prestigious universities.
An advanced internship program offers numerous opportunities for on-the-job experience in an executive or legislative office, a nongovernmental agency, an Eau Claire city or county office, a political campaign or with interest groups – while earning up to six credits.
Students can participate in an active, on-campus Model United Nations Club.
Students interested in becoming politically active may join the College Democrats or College Republicans organizations. They may also seek election to represent the university on the Eau Claire County Board or the City Council.
Through our faculty/student collaborative research program, students can participate in fascinating research projects while working one-on-one with a professor in their field and gaining in-depth knowledge for careers or graduate school.
The university is a member of the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research, which gives the department of political science access to a range of survey and census data. Students in public opinion and voting classes analyze some of this data in computer labs.
Students can earn credits toward their major or minor in one of 13 countries through our study abroad program.
Unlike many other public universities, classes are not taught by teaching assistants. Students work alongside interesting professors who inspire learning.
