The UW-Eau Claire Latin American studies major includes a semester session at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies in Mexico or at some other approved university in Latin America.
Students may become involved with our Conference on Latin America, Latin American Studies Week, the International Folk Fair and the North Central Council of Latin Americanists.
Students gain leadership skills and meet people with common interests through student groups such as the Latin American Studies Club, the Spanish Club and Sigma Delta Pi (the National Hispanic Honor Society).
Prestigious scholarships and awards such as the Hilda Belle Oxby or the Dagny Midelfort Book Award, recognize outstanding students.
For little more than it costs to attend UW-Eau Claire, students study abroad in Chile, Costa Rica or Mexico.
A new, innovative Language Resource Center, equipped with audio tapes, foreign language video programs received via satellite, foreign films and computer-assisted foreign language instruction, allows students to practice and improve their listening and speaking skills.
