Academic Programs

Middle Childhood through Early Adolescence

  • UW-Eau Claire has earned an excellent reputation for the quality of its preparation of teachers, and its graduates are employed throughout Wisconsin and the United States.
  • Our curriculum and instruction programs are accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
  • Early in the program, students work in schools to become acquainted with the professional responsibilities associated with the profession and to examine their educational and career goals.
  • An extended period of student teaching is required during a professional semester that allows students to put their book and classroom learning into practice.
  • Instructional and information technology are well integrated throughout the program, providing for mastery of emergent tools and materials.
  • Students may participate in overseas student teaching experiences through Global Student Teaching and meet Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction requirements. Students also may particiapte in student teaching experiences in the Milwaukee Public Schools or the Aldine School District in Houston, Texas. Campus resources such as the Human Development Center and the children's literature collection help students become outstanding teachers.
  • Student organizations, such as the Future Teacher's Club, Student Wisconsin Education Association and Kappa Delta Pi, provide extra social and learning opportunities for students in education.
  • The Center for Collaborative Leadership involves students in planning events including an annual speaker series.
