Who should I contact for questions?
We are more than happy to answer any questions you have. You can either connect with your admissions counselor directly or email our admissions account at firstname.lastname@example.org. To ensure a timely response, please email only one of our staff members. We work as a team and will make sure your questions get answered by the correct person!
Who's my admissions counselor?
Our counselors work with students based on where you live and/or based on your interests and background. Meet our counselors.
Who should I contact for a schedule change?
If you are making changes to your class schedule, please email our admissions office, and an admissions counselor will let you know if the changes are approved. If you are considering dropping a course, please indicate what course you are adding.

Tips + Tricks for your college search
When's the best time to visit?
We recommend visiting when school is in session so that you can see what the Blugold life is all about. It's also best to start early (spring of junior year) with campus visits so that you have time to take a second look at your top choices. Ready to visit? Check out our visit page.
What are the essay questions in the admissions application and how do I make them shine?
Within your admissions application, there are two personal essay statements. We know you're dying to know what the essay questions are, so go ahead-take a peek and download the questions ahead of time and start thinking about what you'll write about!
What should I do to make my scholarship essay standout?
While writing your scholarship essays, it's important to be authentic-let that personality shine though! Download our " Getting started with scholarships" eBook to find out everything you need to get started with scholarships, no matter where you go to college. Know that these essays are considered for admission and scholarship consideration, so it's good to take your time and proofread. The essays within your application are an opportunity for us to get to know you as an individual. Take full advantage of this, and tell us what makes you curious, what you're passionate about and want to pursue at UW-Eau Claire, or what you've worked hard to accomplish.

What's your average profile of an admitted student?
We do a comprehensive review of each applicant and consider academic as well as non-academic factors. Our average profile for an incoming freshmen is below. Contact your admissions counselor to talk through the likelihood of admission.

Average ACT of new freshmen: 24
Average class rank percentile: 74%
Average GPA: 3.44/4.0
ACT of middle 50% of freshmen*: 22-27
Rank in high school class of middle 50% of freshmen*: 62-86%
*Middle 50% means that 25% of admitted students fall below these scores and 25% place above.
Do you require the written portion of the ACT exam?
No, we do not require the written portion of the ACT.
Do you super score the ACT?
No, we do not super score the ACT exam. Instead, we will always take the highest composite score.
What courses should I plan to take to prepare me for college?
Academic preparation and success are the primary considerations for admission. Course selection is one of the primary factors considered and how a student is reviewed for individual academic performance. Minimally we require 17 total academic units for admission. We strongly encourage completion of four years in the core academic areas to be competitive for admission. We also strongly recommend taking two years of a foreign language.
Will I get admitted?
Academic preparation and success are the primary considerations for admission, although nonacademic factors are also considered. Each application for admission is given a comprehensive review. To talk through the likelihood of admission, contact your admissions counselor. We're here to help!
What is the application deadline?
Apply early! We begin accepting applications for new freshmen on September 1 and begin processing on September 15 for the fall semester. For fall admission, submit your application and all required documents by December 1 of your senior year for priority consideration and by February 1 to be considered on a space-available basis.
What do I need to submit to apply?
Completed applications to UW-Eau Claire consist of the following:
- $50 application fee
- Official high school transcript
- Official ACT or SAT score
Do you require recommendation letters in the admissions process?
Recommendation letters are not required in our admissions process. If students choose to send in letters, we recommend no more than 2-3, and they will be considered on a secondary basis.
Admission Decisions + Next Steps
When will I hear back from UWEC regarding a decision?
If you have completed your application to UW-Eau Claire, you will hear back in 2-3 weeks.
How do I check my application status and admission decision?
MyBlugold CampS allows you to quickly and conveniently check the status of your application online. For detailed information, visit our application status page.
What does a postponed application mean?
A postponed application means we would like additional academic information to make a decision. We typically ask for quarter and/or semester senior grades and review that with other admission factors to determine a decision on space-available basis. Decisions will be communicated no later than March 15 of a student's senior year for fall admission.

How do I apply for scholarships, and what awards are available?
We offer a variety of merit-based scholarships for incoming students to recognize outstanding achievement. Some of our scholarships are automatic while others require a separate application. Eligible students must apply for scholarships by December 1 of their senior year (for early award consideration) or by the February 1 deadline to ensure best chance of receiving a scholarship.

Are there visit days for admitted seniors?
Yes, we host Admitted Student Visit Days in the spring! These days allow you to meet future classmates, take care of next steps, tour multiple residence halls, and even get your photo taken with Blu, our student mascot!
