We Lead Leadership Conference

Registration is currently closed for the We Lead Leadership Conference.

We Lead is a free half-day program open to all students from UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout and Chippewa Valley Technical College. Whether you’re a new leader, an experienced leader, or not even sure if you’re a leader, this opportunity is designed with you in mind.

This free conference features an opening keynote, several breakout sessions on various leadership topics, and drawings for some great prizes. All students attending all conference sessions receive a certificate of achievement. Lunch is provided.

We Lead is held annually in the fall, but due to increased demand an additional opportunity in the spring will start in 2013. Registration will be open soon for this opportunity.

The 2012 Conference in Review

On Sunday, October 21, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire hosted the sixth annual We Lead Leadership Conference, welcoming students from Chippewa Valley Technical College, UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout. More than 160 students attended the leadership development opportunity, with the two highest populations being juniors (26%) and seniors (22%).

The free half-day program in Davies Center featured presenters from all participating institutions, including about a dozen student presenters from UW-Eau Claire. Topics included your professional presentation, training the trainer, exploring personal privilege, time management, taking time for yourself, resolving conflict in organizations, building your network, making the most of your advisor, resume building, how social media has changed the hiring process.

The conference opened with a keynote address by Michael Ojibway, a UW-Eau Claire alum who serves as the Diversity and Equal Opportunity Manager at Chippewa Valley Technical College. Ojibway discussed the courage to engage and how to utilize transformational leadership during times of change.

In the evaluation survey, students were asked to comment on the overall experience.
