Fraternity & Sorority Life

About

Fraternity and sorority life at the UW-Eau Claire offers many opportunities for fun, friendship, personal growth, professional networking, and above all, a great connection to the rest of campus. Our community is made up of diverse and well-rounded individuals who are actively involved at the University and beyond.

The UW-Eau Claire fraternity and sorority community is currently made up of three men’s chapters and three women’s chapters. The men’s chapters include Delta Sigma Phi (ΔΣΦ), Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), and Phi Sigma Phi (ΦΣΦ). The women’s chapters include Alpha Xi Delta (ΑΞΔ), Delta Zeta (ΔZ), and Sigma Sigma Sigma (ΣΣΣ).

4 Pillars of Fraternity and Sorority Life

The fraternity and sorority community is grounded by 4 pillars, including:

Scholarship: The fraternity and sorority community understands that students come to UW-Eau Claire for academics first. Each chapter at UW-Eau Claire has a required grade point for members to remain in good standing with the organization. Each chapter also provides a variety of academic support services to support members in achieving their academic goals. Some of these services include study partners, study hours, and scholarship programs. Each chapter also has an elected officer for overseeing the academic progress of members and to serve as a resource for members who may be struggling academically.

Leadership: Involvement in a fraternity or sorority provides numerous opportunities to get involved on campus and in the community. Each chapter elects or appoints officers for their organization in a variety of roles, providing opportunities for the most experienced leader to the emerging leader. In addition, chapter members have the opportunity to serve the entire fraternity and sorority community as a member of the Interfraternity or Panhellenic Councils, the governing bodies for the men’s and women’s organizations, respectively. But, that’s not all! Fraternity and sorority members at UW-Eau Claire are involved in a number of other student organizations, volunteer with several community agencies, and have individual jobs and internships. With members who are so involved in the campus and community, it is easy to see how joining a fraternity or sorority can get you connected and help create a great college experience.

Service: Giving back to the community is an important part of being a fraternity or sorority member. The chapters at UW-Eau Claire are involved with a number of service and philanthropic projects, including volunteering at community agencies like Longfellow Elementary, Special Olympics, Bolton Refuge House, Community Table, and Girl Scouts. In addition, most chapters host a philanthropy event each year to raise money for a special cause.

Friendship: Joining a fraternity or sorority provides individual members with their own built-in support system right here on campus. Being part of a chapter means developing a sense of closeness and community, while also providing opportunities to broaden your horizons. The experiences you are able to share with fraternity brothers or sorority sisters will result in friendships that last far beyond the college years.
