Political analyst Trita Parsi is an authority on Iranian, Israeli and
American relations and the balance of power in the Middle East.
His 2007 book, Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of
Iran, Israel and the United States, received the 2008 Arthur Ross
Silver Medallion from the Council on Foreign Relations. Parsi
was born in Iran; his father was an outspoken academic and non-
Muslim who
was jailed by the Shah and then by the Ayatollah.
Raised in Sweden to escape political repression in Iran, Parsi
moved to the United
States as an adult and studied foreign
policy at Johns Hopkins’ School for Advanced International
Studies.
He is founder and president of the National Iranian
American Council, a non-partisan, nonprofit organization
that
advocates normalization of relations between the U.S. and
Iran, which Parsi argues would enhance our national security by
helping to stabilize the Middle East and bolster moderates in
Iran. An adjunct scholar
at the Middle East Institute, Parsi is a
frequent commentator on Middle Eastern affairs on PBS, NPR,
MSNBC, C-SPAN, CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera.
Interpreted for the deaf and hard of hearing.
