Watching Janice Garrett & Dancers is like drinking a whole pot
of espresso, not just a cup! The energy level combined with their eloquent dancing makes this company one of a kind. San Francisco’s most acclaimed dance company, Janice Garrett & Dancers has performed throughout the Bay Area and Los Angeles
as well as having completed two tours to the Midwest.
Garrett and her company have received five nominations for Isadora Duncan Dance Awards as well as the 2004 “Twenty-Five to Watch” honor bestowed by Dance Magazine.
As an artist Garrett examines and translates experiences of daily life into shapes, rhythms, dynamics,
and spatial relationships that express both the delights and dilemmas of human existence - joy, triumph
over adversity, celebration, and transformation. The company is committed to a vision of dance as an
expressive, unspoken art form that fosters understanding and a sense of community among people.
Janice Garrett & Dancers will conduct a week-long residency in cooperation with our UW-Eau Claire
dance department.
