Gantner Concert Hall, Haas Fine Arts | 7:30 P.M.
Once every four years, a select few young pianists
emerge
victorious from the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition,
“the most prestigious classical piano contest
in the world”
(Chicago Tribune). One of the six finalists in the 2009 competition
is Evgeni Bozhanov, a 25-year-old pianist from Bulgaria who
received the Cliburn’s Steven De Groote Memorial Award for the
Best Performances of Chamber Music.
Currently pursuing postgraduate
studies at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in
Duesseldorf, Germany, Bozhanov earned top prizes at both the
2008 Casagrande and Sviatoslav Richter competitions. Celebrate
the gifts of a young virtuoso
when the Artists Series presents a
special solo performance by this 2009 Cliburn winner.
