"Oh, what a curse of ridicule and of vulgarity
hangs over everything that I merely touch."
- Hedda Gabler
The Commonweal Theatre in southwestern Minnesota is a collective of theater artists that brings years of training and a lifelong commitment to sharing soulful stories, told with honesty and creativity. For nearly a decade the company has celebrated the work of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen (1828–1906), the father of modern drama, with its annual Ibsen Festival
Hedda Gabler is a dark psychological drama that explores the character of an idealistic,
destructive woman who does not know what to do with her life. First produced in 1891,
the drama plays as well today as it did more than a century ago.
