The Musical World of Benjamin Franklin

Wednesday, November 7, 2007
Gantner Concert Hall, Haas Fine Arts | 7:30 P.M.

"A national artistic treasure."
- The New York Times

This concert covers the gamut of music in America during The Life and Times of Ben Franklin - from drinking songs and ballads of the “common folk” to the operatic and concert music he heard in Philadelphia, Paris and London during his career as a diplomat and statesman.

With more than 125 recordings to her credit on Decca, Deutsche Gramophone, Dorian and Newport Classics, soprano Julianne Baird is one of the world’s ten most recorded classical artists. Baird’s recital with harpsichordist and historian Edward Mauger celebrates the famous founding father’s special love of music during his tercentenary and brings history to life through music and songs that Franklin knew and loved.

Julianne Baird will conduct a master class with students from the private voice studios at UW-Eau Claire.
Call the university Service Center at 836-3727 for more information.
