More information

Secondary education has a wide variety of majors and minors, ensuring you will teach in a field you absolutely love. The variety also pertains to the different grade levels you will be able to teach. Skills in collaborative leadership and student engagement are heavily emphasized as well. Strong community school partnerships place you in student-teaching situations that will help your talents to flourish.

Secondary education is segmented into two options:

  • Early adolescence through adolescence (grades 5-12)
  • Early childhood through adolescence (grades K-12)

Each option will require you complete a major and minor, double major, or comprehensive major. A sequence of teaching methods courses are also required. Read on to find details on each option and which one holds your teaching interest. If you have further questions please see our course catalog or fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page.

If you select a major it must come from the approved list, but you may have the option to select a minor that is not listed. Contact the Education Studies department if you’re considering a minor not listed below. Find the majors and minors that fit you best!
