Use your communication skills and your knowledge of accounting to help area community members with their taxes through the UW-Eau Claire Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. As a VITA volunteer you will interview clients, and prepare and file their tax returns. Not only will you feel great, but you will satisfy at least half of your service-learning requirements for graduation!
VITA is a special program of the IRS and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue that provides tax-return assistance to low-income individuals and families at various sites on and off campus. For over 20 years, UW-Eau Claire students have participated in this experience, which is now part of Accounting 404.
Available to taxpayers with 2016 incomes of $54,000 or less. Hours: Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 am -1:30 pm. First-come, first-serve. Located at RCU Shopko South Office (1049 W. Clairemont Ave.) Closed March 20 and 22. Learn more
