2017 Math Springboard

Any student who places into Math 10 or Math 20 (M-FUND below 466) may participate in Math Springboard. Students in this group with A-ALG above 454 and who plan to take Math 104, 108, 109, 201, or 246 in fall 2017 can either participate in Springboard or enroll in the math class by concurrently enrolling in Math 50.

It is OK to not participate in Springboard. Many students decide to simply start in Math 10 or Math 20 in the fall. There are many good reasons to not participate in Springboard, including time consuming summer jobs and family vacations.

Keep in mind:

  • Students participating in Math Springboard should register for their fall semester with Math 10/20/50 in their schedule as appropriate, based on their placement scores.

  • Students who pass the Math 20 final at the end of Springboard in late August will then drop Math 10/20/50 and enroll in a fall 2017 class with a Math 20 prerequisite.

  • Seats will be reserved for Math Springboard students in Chem 103, Math 104, Math 106, Math 108, Math 109, Math 201, Math 246, Econ 103, and Econ 104.

  • In late July the math department will match each Springboard student with one of the reserved seats depending on their major.

  • Note that students enrolled in Math 50 will already be enrolled in Math 104, 108, 109, 201, or 246—so these students will simply drop Math 50 upon successful completion of Springboard.

  • A student who does not pass the Math 20 final at the end of Springboard will stay in the Math 10/20/50 course in which they are already registered.

  • Pre-nursing students in Springboard will be matched with a seat in Chem 103. These students should also plan on enrolling in NRSG 213.001, which meets at 4pm on Tuesdays.
