Specialists in hydrogeology commonly work in environmental consulting firms, regulatory agencies such as DNR, and for private companies seeking to maintain compliance with environmental regulations. The study and oversight of ground water supply and water quality are the essential aspects of a hydrogeologist's job.
According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary for hydrogeologists in 2015 was $79k, with a typical entry level education of a bachelor’s degree. Further good news is that the field job growth projection is 7% per year for 2015-2024. In other words, this is a secure job market with excellent compensation.
