Department of Special Education

A probationary tenure-track faculty position as Assistant or Associate Professor with a focus on Early Childhood Special Education is available to begin August 18, 2008.

The Department is very collegial and values collaboration and diversity. Summer employment is a possibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applicants will be expected to teach courses as assigned in the Department of Special Education
  • The successful candidate will also participate in research and scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students as assigned, engage in service to the university and community, and participate in department, college, and university committee work.
  • The person selected for this position will also coordinate the Early Childhood Special Education program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate in Special Education or a related field by August 18, 2008 is preferred; ABD will be considered, with completion of degree required by August 1, 2009.

Additional Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years teaching experience with young children (birth to nine) with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teacher preparation.
  • Knowledge and skills related to a low incidence disability.
  • Interest in or willingness to learn to use distance education.
  • Candidates must have evidence of successful university-level instruction.
