College of Nursing and Health Sciences: Environmental Public Health

A probationary tenure track faculty position is available at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, depending on experience and scholarship. This nine (9) month appointment begins with the academic year 2008–2009. A summer appointment may be available.

The nationally accredited ENPH B.S. Program (www.uwec.edu/ph/enph/) provides a comprehensive major that prepares students for a wide variety of environmental health careers, including environmental health specialist (sanitarian), epidemiologist, public health officer, health director, toxicologist, food inspector, housing inspector, risk assessor, environmental protection specialist, industrial hygienist, and environmental compliance officer in the public and private sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Environmental Public Health (ENPH) faculty are expected to teach a full course load each semester and supervise summer internships as assigned.
  • Faculty are also expected to participate in research and scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students, engage in service to the university and community, and participate in department, college, and university committee work.
  • Active participation in relevant environmental public health organizations is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Doctorate in public health or other relevant field, or MPH or equivalent with doctorate in a related field is preferred. ABD applicants will be considered if they can provide evidence that all requirements of the doctoral degree will be completed by March 20, 2009.
  2. Record of professional experience as an environmental health practitioner is required.
  3. Teaching ability in both classroom and laboratory/practicum environment is required.
  4. Demonstrated record of professional experience, teaching, scholarship, publication, and earned doctorate are required for the rank of Associate Professor. Potential for establishing this record and ABD status is required for the rank of Assistant Professor.
  5. Possession of CIH, CSP, RS/REHS or similar certification would be considered an asset.
