Department of Psychology

A probationary tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor in Experimental Psychology is available to begin August 24, 2009.

Fifteen full time faculty members in the Department represent a broad range of specialty areas. We serve over 400 undergraduate liberal arts majors and 20 graduate students in School Psychology. For more details, visit our web site at www.uwec.edu/psyc/

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach courses as assigned in the Department of Psychology including general psychology, a course in the applicant's area of specialization, and a senior capstone course.
  • Participate in research and scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students as assigned, engage in service to the university and community, and participate in department, college, and university committee work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Doctorate or ABD in Experimental Psychology from a regionally accredited higher education institution is required. ABD applicants must provide evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed by the time of the first performance review (March 20, 2010).
  2. Area of specialty: Experimental Psychology.
  3. Area of Concentration: Open.
  4. Individuals with interests in cognition or neuroscience are especially encouraged to apply.
  5. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in experimental psychology is required.
  6. Commitment to involving undergraduate students in collaborative research is also expected.
  7. The ability to bring diverse cultural and ethnic experiences to the department and the campus, and/or a commitment to serving as a mentor for traditionally underrepresented students may be considered assets.
