Department of Curriculum and Instruction

A probationary tenure track faculty position is available in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning August 18, 2008.

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is one of six departments in the College of Education and Human Sciences. The Department and College are committed to collaborative leadership that is innovative and interdisciplinary, scholarly inquiry that transforms practice, working effectively to enhance the human condition and promoting social justice and equity in an atmosphere where diversity is valued. The Department offers courses that serve k-12 teacher education licensure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applicants will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned including core courses serving programs in the College.
  • Applicants will be expected to supervise practicum experiences.
  • Applicants will be expected to provide academic advising to students as assigned, participate in research and scholarly activities, engage in service to the university and community, and participate in department, college, and university committee work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Doctorate in education or Ph.D. in a social studies content area from a regionally accredited higher education institution. ABD applicants must complete the terminal degree by May 20, 2008.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach broad field social studies courses, elementary and secondary social studies method courses.
  • 3-5 years experience teaching in k-12 schools.

Recommended:

  • The ability to enhance the diversity of and bring global perspectives to the department will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to teach additional core areas will be considered an asset.
  • Ph.D. in history will be considered an asset.
