A full-time fixed-term instructional academic staff position is available in the Department of History as Associate Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Visiting Assistant Professor beginning August 18, 2008, and ending May 17, 2009.

The Department of History at UW-Eau Claire, which offers both graduate (MA, MAT, MST) and undergraduate degrees, has 13 full-time faculty members and approximately 300 majors and minors. The Department has established a regional and national reputation as a center for the study of Public History. Our students gain in-depth experience with historical research including methodology and writing. The Department has been recognized by the UW-System Board of Regents for excellence in Teaching.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applicants will be expected to teach 2 sections of the World History survey each semester.
  • Fall semester they will also teach the Sophomore Seminar that introduces history majors to historical methods and a Senior Seminar on Imperialism.
  • Spring semester they will also teach two upper division history courses in their area of specialization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Doctorate from a regionally accredited higher education institution is preferred. ABD status is required.
  2. The ability to enhance the diversity of the department and serve as a role model and mentor for women and/or minorities will be considered an asset.
  3. Salary will be commensurate with teaching experience.
  4. Area of Specialty: Global History/Imperial or Colonial Studies.
