Office of Research and Sponsored Programs

A full-time annual professional academic staff position is available in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) with the title of Coordinator of Pre-award Grant Activities, beginning September 1, 2008. The official title is in the Administrative Specialist series.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs offers support for all aspects of university research and grants activity, including student and faculty scholarly and creative activity, and sponsored programs for research, campus programming, and public service.  The position reports to the Director of Grants and Contracts and works closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs and office staff to serve the campus.  ORSP reports directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.  The website is: www.uwec.edu/orsp/index.htm

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide assistance to the Director of Grants and Contracts in working with campus constituents, including the Materials Science Center www.uwec.edu/matsci/index.htm , on all aspects of the grants cycle, including tracking and dissemination of grant opportunities, proposal  development, review and submission, budget development and review, preparation of budget materials for awarded grants, maintenance of the grants database, reporting, and other related activities. 
  • Manage the UW System grant submission process. 
  • Assist with other activities of ORSP, including undergraduate research programming, publications and events, and internal grant programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required, and ability to communicate effectively and work collegially is critical.
  2. A Master’s degree and demonstrated ability in grants administration, including identification of grant opportunities, development of grant proposals and budgets, proposal submission, and grant management, as well as familiarity with spreadsheet and database use, will be considered assets.
