The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire seeks applications for the position of Study Abroad Coordinator. This is a full-time annual professional academic staff position with an official title in the Student Services Coordinator title series with an anticipated start date in October 2009.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is a public, comprehensive liberal arts university with 700 faculty and staff members offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs to approximately 10,500 students. The fourth largest university in the state, UW-Eau Claire has strong academic programs and a focus on international education. The campus, often described as Wisconsin's most beautiful, is set on the banks of the Chippewa River in the heart of Eau Claire. Study Abroad is located in the Center for International Education, which also houses International Student Services. Approximately 400 students study abroad each year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Study Abroad Coordinator has the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinates selection and advising of students for study abroad.
  • Develops publicity and markets information for study abroad programs.
  • Works with international liaisons on all aspects of program management.
  • Manages study abroad program budgets.
  • Oversees maintenance of student records related to study abroad.
  • Develops orientations for outgoing study abroad students and reentry opportunities for returning student.
  • Assists in new program development and on-going program evaluation among other responsibilities. 
  • Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities, as well as international travel, are part of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated administrative ability.
  • Experience working or studying abroad.

Assets:

  • Master's degree in appropriate field.
  • Experience in study abroad program administration.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Experience working with university faculty.
  • Experience with study abroad curriculum integration.
  • Fluency in a foreign language.
  • Experience with database and Web page maintenance.
  • Experience working with diverse groups and ability to bring diverse perspectives to campus.
