Housing and Residence Life

A full-time fixed term professional academic staff position is available as Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life with an anticipated start date of December 1, 2009 (negotiable). This is a 12-month live-out position with an official title of Assistant Director, University Housing. This position reports directly to the Director of Housing and Residence Life.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting student learning in the residence halls, student leadership development, multicultural education, residence hall programming, and professional staff development. This will involve coordination of all living learning initiatives, student development, and leadership and diversity education.  This involves the supervision of advising of all student organizations, developing policies relating to programming efforts in all residence halls and campus-wide, providing developmental opportunities for professional staff and student leaders, and various other administrative and programmatic responsibilities.
  • The Assistant Director also serves as a critical point person for Housing and Residence Life in working with various campus-wide offices on collaborative programming and other committees.  The Assistant Director is responsible for supervising the development of all publications that are distributed by the housing and residence life office as well.
  • The Assistant Director supervises the Associate Hall Director/Student Programs Coordinator which is a full-time, live-in position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree with experience in Residence Life at a college or university setting. 
  2. Previous experience collaborating with University faculty is important. 
  3. The position requires strong commitment to student development, diversity, and student leadership. 
  4. This position also requires an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, exercising sound judgment and analytical ability.
