Alumni/Development Office
A full-time fixed term professional academic staff position is available
in the Alumni/Development area to work with the annual giving
program and the Telefund with the position available June 1, 2008. The
official title assigned will be within the Development Specialist title
series.
The Development/Foundation area is the legally recognized entity to solicit, receive, manage and disburse private gifts on behalf of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and its people and programs. The Foundation recently completed the Fulfilling the Promise of Excellence Campaign, its historic endeavor to raise more than $50 million in private support for the university’s people and programs. Over the next four years, the unit will lay the ground work and begin efforts to undertake another major funding drive to culminate with the university’s Centennial celebration in 2016. Over the past several years, the Foundation has received more than $3 million in private gifts and has transferred to the university more than $1 million annually in scholarships and student awards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1. Manage and Maintain General Annual Giving Operations
- Responsible for general administration of annual giving program.
- Coordinate process of regular address/phone number updates.
- Assist the director in preparing Foundation Annual Report.
- Assist in maintaining accurate donor records, including Telefund
and lower level pledges (under $1,000), annual gifts, memorials
and giving level designations.
- Communicate directly with alumni and friends of the university
regarding their annual giving pledge reminders, gift renewals,
installments, and personalized annual giving appeals.
- 2. Develop and implement the GOLD (graduates of the last
decade) Program
- Create a GOLD advisory group for test-marketing solicitation
strategies.
- Implement creative communication and solicitation
messages using broadcast emails, FLASH technology and Internet and special communication groups via My Space and Face Book.
- Develop special communities for connections and targeted fundraising
appeals.
- Work with the Alumni office to create special engagement activities
that lead to successful gift solicitations.
- Develop a comprehensive plan to engage young alumni in giving and sustain their annual gifts over time.
- 3. Supervise Senior Class Gift Program
- Organize, implement and supervise an annual solicitation program
focused on the senior class with the goal to have members of the
class give the amount equal to their graduation year (i.e. $20.07,
$20.08, etc).
- Implement strategies to motivate seniors to continue to give
each year through the university’s centennial (2016) to
qualify for the Centennial Challenge. Organize annual communications
to remind alumni to continue to give to ensure successful participation
in the Centennial Challenge.
- Engage current seniors to obtain feedback on most appropriate
strategies for communication and solicitation.
- Develop a comprehensive outreach and public relations program to educate all current students on the importance of private support and giving to their university.
4. Have complete responsibility for the Telefund Program
- Have comprehensive understanding of the RuffaloCody CampusCall
program and conduct Telefund operations.
- Be responsible for student recruitment, interviews, hiring,
supervision, scheduling and payroll for student fundraisers.
- Evaluate the performance of student telefund callers and provide timely evaluations.
- Create, draw and monitor calling pool segments for fall and
spring Telefund seasons.
- Coordinate and conduct Telefund training sessions.
- Proactively communicate with alumni and friends of the university
regarding their current pledge and gift status with the Foundation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required from a regionally accredited institution.
- Demonstrated ability to use email, internet, text messaging and
telephone required.
- Demonstrated experience using the telephone to solicit gifts required.
- Needs to be highly motivated, organized and flexible, and have strong
communication skills.
- Able to work flexible schedule that includes evening and some weekend
hours from early September through mid May.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate and supervise student telefund callers.
- Understanding of the unique communication and interaction needs of current students and young alumni (graduates within the last 10 years) and what it takes to motivate them to action, especially in their charitable giving, considered an asset.
- The ability to enhance the diversity of the unit and serve as a
role model and mentor for women and/or minorities will be considered
an asset.
