Continuing Education

A full-time professional academic staff position in Continuing Education with the title of Outreach Specialist: Health and Human Services is available beginning September 1, 2008.

The Division of Continuing Education is charged with establishing supportive and collaborative ties among UW-Eau Claire faculty, staff and a variety of external audiences for the purpose of developing quality regional educational programs, services, and partnerships to support lifelong learning.  Continuing Education is a financially self-supporting services unit whose operating costs are covered primarily through program revenue

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the supervision of the Program Manager for Education and Human Sciences, the Outreach Specialist delivers and evaluates Health and Human Service professional development programming sponsored by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education.  
  • Continuing Education is charged with establishing collaborative ties among UW-Eau Claire faculty, staff, and a wide variety of external audiences, for the purpose of providing educational programs, services, and partnerships.  Under supervision of the Program Manager for Education and Human Sciences, the Outreach Specialist will work with departments within the College of Education and Human Sciences and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences to develop and offer programs that serve professionals from related fields.
  • The Outreach Specialist works closely with all Continuing Education programmers-- and in particular with the Outreach Specialist for Health Care -- to create programs that serve a wide array of health and human services professionals. 
  • The Outreach Specialist may supervise full-time or part-time temporary staff during both the academic year and summer, and may serve as a mentor to outreach specialists in the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • A master's degree in a health or human service field is considered an asset.
  • Certification in a health or human service field is considered an asset.
  • Experience in program management is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a nonprofit setting is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a program setting is considered an asset.
  • Established skills in organization/planning, communication (oral and written) and computer use may be considered an asset.
