The College of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire seeks
applications for a full-time fixed term professional academic staff
position in the Artist title series.The anticipated
start date is June 1, 2008, or as soon as possible thereafter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Web Design/Maintenance. Designs and creates computer-based,
Web-based, or multimedia-based layout, graphics, and/or content for
use in presentations, multimedia programs, Web sites, emails, and
other electronic media; designs Web interfaces; develops layout design
and concept; selects and secures appropriate illustrative materials
to be used; maintains Web sites; ensures consistency, accuracy and
compliance with required standards; proofreads copy.
- Design/Print Materials. Prepares and provides print-based
brochures, invitations, logos, fliers, newsletters, and other print
documents using professional page layout and graphic design software
tools; composes and edits copy; completes all pre-production tasks
for submission to commercial printers; consults with commercial printers
regarding format and print processes, price quotes and printing schedules.
- Photo Production. Takes photos at organization
events for Web and print publications; edits and manipulates photos;
maintains server for digital photograph archives.
- Technical Support. Provides technical consultation
to staff; researches new technology and trends; troubleshoots and
analyzes computer and system problems and determines solution; makes
recommendations to department for software and equipment purchases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are required:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, OR bachelor's degree and education/training
that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities as described.
- At least three years of professional experience in web development,
graphic design or related design field.
- Ability to develop creative, well designed projects.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with others in a professional office environment.
- Ability to use Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign.
The following may be considered an asset:
- Knowledge of QuarkXPress, Adobe Flash, JavaScript and advanced
programming languages such as PHP or ASP.NET 2.
